Chile Launches Jobs Plan With 800 Billion Pesos for Public Works

Chile's President José Antonio Kast presented Chile Despega in Santiago on September 28, a four-part plan aimed at creating jobs and reviving the economy. The government said it would add 800 billion Chilean pesos for public works that can begin quickly and accelerate existing infrastructure, housing and reconstruction projects. It also proposed expanded hiring subsidies and earlier payment of 130 billion pesos owed to health-sector suppliers. The plan includes up to 300 billion pesos in capital for the FOGAPE loan-guarantee fund, which the government says could support credit for companies.
