Mitzpe Ramon Opens Reservist-First Land Lottery for New Maof Neighborhood

The Mitzpe Ramon local council called on reserve soldiers to register by August 31 for an Israel Land Authority lottery of 51 self-build plots in the new Maof neighborhood. Forty-six of the plots are allocated to combat reservists, 23 for residents of Mitzpe Ramon and 23 for reservists from across the country, and five are set aside for people with disabilities. The tender carries land-price discounts of tens of thousands of shekels for combat reservists, further benefits for the housing-eligible and for couples in which both partners serve in the reserves, and a condition barring resale for five years after construction is completed, meant to encourage a stable community. Maof, the town's flagship project, is planned for about 1,500 homes alongside about 7,630 square meters of commerce and more than 21,000 square meters of employment space, part of an umbrella agreement of about 800 million shekels signed in April with the Housing Ministry that includes about 110 million shekels for public and education buildings. Council head Elia Winter said the town intends to reach about 10,000 residents by 2030.
