Poland Calls on Israel to Return Seized UNRWA Sites

Poland’s Foreign Ministry called on Israel to stop interfering with UNRWA facilities, leave the sites and return property seized from the agency, joining UN Secretary-General António Guterres’s appeal after the August 25 entry into the Kalandia Training Centre in eastern Jerusalem. Poland said the operation violated the inviolability of UN premises under international law. UNRWA said more than 50 Israeli security personnel entered while about 20 agency employees were present. Israel’s Foreign Ministry disputes that account, saying UNRWA had no property rights at the site and that the compound is intended for an educational and community complex serving Kafr Aqab’s Arab children.
