Supreme Court Allows Naming Border Police Officer Charged in Friend's Death

Israel's Supreme Court allowed publication of the name of Border Police officer Hananel Sabag, who is charged with reckless homicide in the shooting death of his friend, soldier Yosef Haim Rabouh, on the eve of Sukkot. The court rejected Sabag's appeal after a district court approved the Police Internal Investigations Department's request to lift the restriction. The October indictment also alleges reckless and negligent weapons offenses and unlawful possession. Prosecutors say Rabouh arrived with his fiancée at Sabag's Kiryat Arba home, where Sabag opened the door with a loaded weapon and fired at close range.
