Nauru Opens Embassy in Jerusalem, Ninth Country With a Mission in Israel’s Capital

Nauru inaugurated its embassy in Jerusalem on Monday morning, becoming the ninth country to maintain an embassy in Israel’s capital. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Nauru Vice President and Foreign Minister Lionel Aingimea attended the ceremony. Aingimea said Nauru’s support for Israel is rooted in faith, noted that the Pacific nation votes with Israel at the United Nations 71% of the time, and said he expects that share to rise. The governments said the mission will deepen cooperation in health, agriculture, water management, innovation and climate resilience.
