IDF Recruit Arrested After Protest Against Administrative Orders

An IDF recruit in basic training was arrested after demonstrating outside the Jerusalem office of Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth. He carried signs demanding an end to administrative orders and accusing Bluth of persecuting Tal Yinon Dardik, who is subject to such an order. Police took the soldier to Neve Yaakov station before releasing him; he was expected to face military discipline later Tuesday. Honenu lawyer Daniel Shimshilashvili said the case would draw more protests, while security officials said Dardik is suspected in a serious assault on Palestinians and defended enforcement of the order.
