Two Arrested After Former World Champion Boxer Zolani Tete Shot Dead in Mdantsane

Two men aged 30 and 22 were arrested in South Africa's Eastern Cape on Saturday over the murder of former two-time world boxing champion Zolani Tete, police said. Tete, 38, was shot dead on Friday evening outside his home in Mdantsane, ambushed by two armed men in balaclavas as he waited for his gate to open. A 27-year-old woman in the car with him was shot several times and taken to hospital; the men are also being questioned over her attempted murder. Police spokeswoman Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana said one of them was stopped as he was about to board a flight, gave no motive, and said more arrests are imminent.
