Kenya Cuts Subsidised Fertiliser to KSh2,000 and Halves Maize Seed Prices

President William Ruto said Kenya will cut the price of a 50 kilogramme bag of subsidised fertiliser from KSh2,500 to KSh2,000 and subsidise maize seed by 50 percent, both within two weeks. He announced the measures on Sunday at an African Inland Church service in Makutano, Taita Taveta County, saying the lower price would apply countrywide. State House said the cuts are meant to cushion growers hit by lower than normal rains so they can plant during the expected September and October rains. Ruto also set out a longer term plan for 50 mega dams, 200 medium dams and 1,000 micro dams under the National Infrastructure Fund.
