Colombia Starts Nationwide Earthquake Reconstruction With 1,000 Homes and Direct Aid

President Abelardo De La Espriella launched the reconstruction phase for all Colombian areas affected by the August 10 earthquake during a visit to Quibdó. The government projects investment near COP30 trillion through the Fondo Patria Milagro, while the private sector has already mobilized more than COP2 trillion; Grupo Argos committed 1,000 rapid-build homes, including 500 for Chocó. Starting August 26, families whose homes were destroyed or are uninhabitable are to receive COP2,626,356 in three monthly payments. Food, shelter, drinking water, security, health care and social support will continue while rebuilding proceeds.
