China Welcomes S&P’s A+ Sovereign Rating Affirmation

China’s Finance Ministry welcomed S&P Global Ratings’ decision to affirm the country’s long-term sovereign credit rating at A+ with a stable outlook. The ministry said the decision reflected recognition of the economy’s resilience, fiscal stability and risk controls. It said China would pursue more proactive and effective macroeconomic policies in the second half of 2026, with stronger coordination between fiscal and financial measures to support domestic demand. The ministry also cited the International Monetary Fund’s recent increase of its 2026 growth forecast for China to 4.6%.
