Study Maps U.S. Access at 110 Australian Defence Facilities

Richard Tanter’s Australian Bases & US Involvement project identified significant U.S. military or corporate access at 110 of 151 high- or medium-confidence Australian defence facilities in its first research report. It classified 17 as U.S.-controlled with Australian access and 93 as Australian-controlled with U.S. access; 41 showed no significant U.S. access. Among the 93 Australian-controlled sites, 75 allowed U.S. military access and 42 involved U.S. defence companies, with overlap between the categories. The analysis began with 177 records, excluded nine structurally or as out of scope, then omitted 17 low-confidence cases from its main statistics.
