Indeed. The UN needs to be more disciplined - and most importantly, it needs to end its obsessive bias against Israel. It's time to return to the UN's founding principles, established 80 years ago in the aftermath of the Holocaust, to ensure such a tragedy could never happen again. We expect the next Secretary-General to repair what you have broken and bring the UN back to its founding mission.

I commend Peru for its important decision to sever diplomatic relations with the Iranian regime. There is no place for “business as usual” with a regime that represses its own people, spreads terrorism and violence across the Middle East, and threatens international peace and security. Other countries should follow Peru’s lead.

We discussed strengthening relations between our countries, renewing consular ties, and the Israeli assistance sent to Venezuela following the earthquake. Israel and Venezuela will continue working to deepen our cooperation, both internationally and at the United Nations.
