I stumbled on this photo last night. Summer 2014. ISIS was 12 miles outside of Erbil & advancing. I showed up to see how I could help the thousands of Christians & Yazidis displaced. It was a very dark & dangerous moment. This was a Christian refugee’s ramshackle tent. ISIS was grotesquely killing Christians yet he refused to hide his faith & — at once — as an act of defiance and also of faith he constructed a cross at the entrance of his tent. At night, the cross would light up so it was visible far away even in the dark.
The Strait of Hormuz is doing just fine because the U.S. Armed Forces are absolutely unbelievable. Quietly, deliberately they have achieved this mission to. They deserve nothing but our admiration & gratitude.
A century ago, 1 in 3 people in Baghdad was Jewish, and the community was the city’s largest, its best educated, and the engine of Iraq’s economy. Within one generation it was gone.
The Israeli tech sector is insanely successful.
