Folks, this guy begins a paragraph accusing me and @PeterBeinart of being "pompous" and "elitist" and ends it with: "The few Palestinians that you and Beinart love to salivate over are ultimately an irrelevant drop in the ocean." Anyways, he doesn't want to debate/talk to Palestinians from Gaza. Make of that what you will. (What I make of it is that he wants to be the Maajid Nawaz of the Palestinians.)
Hi Ahmed, if you're such a representative and authentic voice of Gaza, why have you repeatedly turned down opportunities to debate your views, and your op-ed, on camera, with multiple other Palestinian activists and journalists from Gaza, including Christian Palestinians who hate Hamas? Hi, this is a hilarious post. If a paying audience is still going to Ed Sheeran concerts featuring Macklemore despite Macklemore’s criticisms of Israel at those concerts then isn’t that capitalism working? Shouldn’t the free market sort this out, per your view? But no, your side is insisting Macklemore be removed from the concert tour for his views which clearly is a free speech issue. The pro-Israel side loves to censor and cancel, always has, always will, as it is the only way to defend apartheid and genocide.
I get insane levels of racism and Islamophobia from MAGA and Likud types on here but a reminder that self-proclaimed liberals and centrists are not immune to it either. Here’s Noah Smith, a pundit, quite mainstream, saying I’d apparently ‘be happier’ living in the Gulf and ‘America would be happier too.’ Does he speak for America? Stephen Miller and Laura Loomer couldn’t have said it better. Also, even a cursory look at my journalistic record of two decades would show it’s obviously untrue to claim I only care about the MidEast. But it is an Islamophobic trope, and the fact that I do care about the fate of peoples other than my own is indeed hard for a selfish racist nationalist like Smith to absorb.
I think, if 3 years into a horrific Israeli genocide in Gaza, 100,000+ killed, almost 2m displaced; and as Israel carries out live ethnic cleansing in front of our eyes in the non-Hamas West Bank; if you’re focus is still on Hamas and ‘both sides’ then you’re telling on yourself.
Still waiting for you to find a statement from me supporting Hamas, Hizbollah and the Houthis. You made the false claim. You can’t defend it so, like every Islamophobe, you jump to guilt by association. You lied, got caught, so now you deflect. I’ll go back to blocking you now.

Actually, Dan, I am on record repeatedly criticizing Hamas war crimes. My opponents and adversaries almost never ever criticize Israeli war crimes, let alone genocide, so I don’t need to take any lessons on mirror images or hypocrisy from anyone on the pro-Israel side.

The president of the United States used ‘American politics’ to bomb five countries in the Middle East, separate to the ongoing genocide we’re complicit in, in Gaza. We are currently in the middle of a seven month war against Iran. But apparently we’re the ones obsessed with the Middle East!
Ok. Let’s forget a debate over terms. But you do proudly support what Israel has done in Gaza for the past three years. You said so to me on my show. And what they have done is kill tens of thousands of civilians, 20,000 kids, created the biggest cohort per capita of amputated children, and destroyed homes, universities, hospitals and schools, even graveyards. They have massacred aid workers, including foreign workers, and lied about it. You have supported all that.
