Health Ministry Warns Consumers Not to Drink Unlicensed GATRY Khat Beverage

Israel's Health Ministry warned consumers not to drink GATRY, a beverage made from khat leaves and fruit, in any marketed size or with any expiration date. Inspectors found the product during an unannounced inspection in Yokneam Illit and said it was made without a valid manufacturer's license or ministry approval. The manufacturer or importer and production source are unknown. The ministry said Israeli food law permits khat leaves only for traditional use in their natural form and advised consumers to buy food only from recognized, authorized sellers.
