Jerusalem Film Festival Opens 43rd Edition at Sultan's Pool With Loznitsa Tribute

The 43rd Jerusalem Film Festival opens Thursday evening at Sultan's Pool amphitheater with a screening of Moshe Rosenthal's Tell Me Everything, the Israeli premiere of a feature that had its world debut at Sundance earlier this year, marking the first full-length Israeli feature to enter that lineup in a decade. Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa arrives as guest of honor to receive a career tribute and to preside over the jury of the Israeli Competition, with more than 25 international guests joining a program that runs through July 19. The festival, based at the Jerusalem Cinematheque since 1984, is expected to draw about 6,000 spectators to the opening ceremony and roughly 70,000 attendees over its ten-day run. The lineup includes the Palme d'Or, Golden Bear and other top prize winners from Cannes, Berlin, Sundance, San Sebastian, Toronto, Tallinn, SXSW, Tribeca and Rotterdam alongside new Israeli features, documentaries and shorts.
