Iran Summons British Ambassador Over IRGC Security Designation

Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned British Ambassador Hugo Shorter to protest London's designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a national security threat. Deputy Foreign Minister Alireza Yousefi called the measure hostile and unjustified, while Tehran warned that it would bring a reciprocal and decisive response. Britain says the designation will help disrupt surveillance, sabotage and other hostile activity carried out for foreign states. The decision followed findings that an Iran-backed proxy claimed seven attacks on British targets, including synagogues and Jewish community ambulances; supporting the IRGC can now bring up to 14 years in prison, while sabotage on its behalf can carry a life sentence.
