Just had chat with Hon @adoniaayebare - Uganda’s Minister for Foreign Affairs. India is issuing visas to Ugandans wishing to travel there. The Indian High Commission is working through a backlog at the moment and is keen to accord emergency cases the necessary urgency.
Today weighed on all of us. Behind every editorial decision was one truth: a mother is mourning her son. A Queen Mother is grieving her King. No photo or video is worth adding to that pain. Again and again, we asked one question before any other: does this cause more harm? King Oyo lived in the global spotlight from the time he was three years old. In death, we stepped back. He belongs first to his mother, his family, and the Kingdom of Tooro. Today, we reported the truth. Carefully. With honor. Rest well, Omukama. Rest well, our King.
