OpenAI Reportedly Acquired Israeli-Founded Glass Imaging for More Than $300 Million

OpenAI reportedly acquired Glass Imaging, an Israeli-founded computational photography company, in a transaction valuing it at more than $300 million. The deal was said to have closed in recent months, after the company was valued at about $100 million in a funding round last year. Israeli former Apple engineer Ziv Attar founded Glass Imaging with Tom Bishop in 2019; their GlassAI software uses neural networks to process raw sensor data and correct optical aberrations, sensor flaws and noise. The company has raised about $30 million and targets smartphone, drone and wearable cameras, while OpenAI has not publicly detailed its plans for the technology.
