The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention reported 14 new confirmed Lassa fever cases for August 10–16, lifting the 2026 total to 1,035 infections and 252 deaths. The case-fatality rate reached 24.4%, compared with 18.6% in 2025. Confirmed cases have appeared in 23 states and 117 local government areas, while Bauchi, Ondo, Taraba, Benue and Edo account for 87% of the cumulative total. No new health-care worker infections were recorded in the two latest reporting weeks, and adults aged 21–30 remained the most affected group.
