India Completes 2,800-Kilometre Dedicated Freight Corridor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India completed its 2,800-kilometre Dedicated Freight Corridor as he inaugurated the final links during a development-project launch in Vadodara. More than 430 cargo trains now run on the network each day, according to the official account. Modi said freight journeys that can take trucks about 30 hours can now take trains 10 to 12 hours. A double-stack container train from Jawaharlal Nehru Port to Vadodara carried cargo equivalent to more than 250 trucks, while a newly launched passenger service connects Chhota Udepur with travellers from the Alirajpur area.
