Not a great day for petroleum supplies: Canada's largest refinery is offline for planned maintenance Saudi E-W Pipeline is offline due to damage from drone attacks $XOM refinery in Joliet, IL offline due to power outage
The lawlessness in parts of Iraq is a huge issue. This is what happens in a power vacuum.
So that’s why oil prices are pulling back this morning… But also, there’s no deal if Iran charges for passage and there’s no deal if US blockade remains, so 🤷♀️
Well then. Saudi Arabia is at Gulf War levels of oil production.
Interesting analysis of Iranian social media
Worked so great with Iran why not send the same guys to Ukraine?
LIV Golf & the Saudi PIF are in the news again! I shared some thoughts with @thedispatch on why PIF might have decided to cut funding. #SaudiArabia https://t.co/mESdTJOs88
Is THIS why oil is down today? Sure, Iran is interested in negotiations with Washington. Same terms as it always states - end the blockade, end sanctions, deliver frozen assets & Iran controls Hormuz.
but since Straight of Hormuz now belongs to America, they better start paying estimated taxes on that revenue because you know what institution in the US is really scary? the IRS
and how much of that 10 million barrels was actually Iranian oil disguised as Iraqi oil, huh?
This is totally not a surprise. And also needs to be the first thing Treasury deals with if it is actually serious about economic pressure on Iran. If the US isn’t serious, then WTF are we doing with a naval blockade.
Well this is an interesting note - perhaps not what the IRGC would ever concede but more accurate, perhaps.
Would also help if the major refineries in the Persian gulf that are offline or simply can’t export gasoline, diesel, etc. You can’t just wave a wand & increase refinery output.
