COGAT Report Says Gaza Aid Exceeded U.N. Food Needs

A COGAT report published Thursday says aid entering Gaza during the ceasefire exceeded humanitarian benchmarks, countering Hamas efforts to accuse Israel of violating the agreement and slow negotiations over the terror group's disarmament. It says about 1.78 million tons of food entered Gaza from October 10 to June 7, roughly three times the World Food Programme benchmark, while more than 70,000 cubic meters of water are supplied daily. The report also says more than 18,000 tons of medicines and medical equipment entered Gaza and hospital-bed capacity rose by more than 55%. COGAT chief Maj. Gen. Yoram Halevy said the data show humanitarian stability was maintained while Hamas exploits aid channels for military and governing needs.
