Knesset Gives Final Approval to Combat Trauma Recognition Law

The Knesset gave final approval Wednesday to legislation that explicitly defines combat trauma in Israel’s Disabled Persons Law and recognizes survivors assigned a disability rating for PTSD arising from such trauma. The amendment requires the Defense Ministry’s Rehabilitation Department to provide treatment tailored to combat-trauma survivors. It also places the department’s discretionary-assistance committee on a statutory footing, allowing exceptional aid for qualifying disabled veterans and, in special cases, family members facing severe hardship connected to the veteran’s disability. The measure completed its second and third readings after advancing through a cross-party effort.
