Court Upholds Liberman Defamation Ruling, Cuts Damages to NIS 90,000

The Central District Court in Lod rejected Monday both Yossi Kamisa's appeal and the cross-appeal filed by MK Avigdor Liberman and Yisrael Beytenu in Liberman's criminal defamation complaint. The court left intact the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court finding that Kamisa defamed Liberman in several incidents. Judges reduced the compensation, ordering Kamisa to pay NIS 80,000 to Liberman and NIS 10,000 to Yisrael Beytenu, for a total of NIS 90,000. Both sides had challenged the lower-court result, but the appellate ruling preserved the liability finding.
