Sodom Reaches 44.7°C on Israel's Hottest Day in Nearly a Year

Israel recorded its hottest day in nearly a year Monday, with the Israel Meteorological Service's Sodom station near the southern Dead Sea reaching 44.7°C. The reading, taken at 16:30, was the country's highest since August 15, 2025, and exceeded Sodom's 44.3°C annual record set Sunday. Temperatures topped 40°C across the southern Dead Sea, Arava and Eilat, while afternoon humidity reached 75% in Tel Aviv and Nahariya and 74% in Ashkelon. Forecasters expect a slight easing Tuesday before temperatures and coastal humidity rise again Wednesday and Thursday.
