Kuwait Revokes License of Its Only Iranian School and Orders It Closed

Kuwaiti Education Minister Sayyed Jalal al-Tabtabai signed a decision revoking the educational license of the private Iranian school, the only one in Kuwait, and ordering it closed. The decision cites the laws regulating private education and a finding of the General Administration for Private Education on the public interest. The school may not admit new students from the 2026-2027 academic year, and parents were told to move their children to other schools before that year begins. The ministry gave no explicit reason for the closure. Kuwait is among the Gulf states hosting American forces that Iran struck during the war, most recently after the June ceasefire collapsed.
