UK Review Considered Suspending Israel Trade Deal but Warned of Economic Harm

Britain's Department for Business and Trade conducted an impact assessment in August 2025 on suspending the UK-Israel Trade and Partnership Agreement, a post-Brexit pact that gives Israeli imports preferential tariff treatment. The department disclosed the review this month after a freedom-of-information request but withheld its scope, timing and conclusions. The agreement remains in force. Then-trade minister Chris Bryant told Parliament in October that exports to Israel support thousands of British jobs and that suspending preferential terms risked unpredictable consequences and significant disruption for British businesses.
