Iranian Army Chief Offers $30,000 Bounty for Killing or Capturing U.S. Troops

Maj. Gen. Amir Hatami, commander-in-chief of Iran's army, announced a reward equivalent to $30,000, or 5 billion tomans, for anyone who kills or captures and hands over a U.S. service member. He said a woman who carries out the act would receive double, and described the initiative as a response to public requests to join what he called a "financial jihad." Hatami also said the assailant's weapon would be bought for twice its value, replaced and preserved in a planned museum. He demanded that American forces leave the region and said U.S. bases could not return to their prior status.
