Uganda Selects Troops While Finalizing Gaza Stabilization Force Deployment

Uganda is selecting troops and finalizing its participation in the planned international stabilization force for Gaza after parliament authorized the deployment, officials told AP. A Ugandan military officer said around 1,200 personnel were being selected, while a Board of Peace official said participation details were still being completed. Ugandan officials joined a Burundian military delegation in Israel last week, but nothing has been finalized with Burundi. The planned 20,000-member force, led by U.S. Maj. Gen. Jasper Jeffers, would monitor the ceasefire, train Palestinian police, and help secure aid delivery.
