Iranian Official Says Tehran Offered Seven-Day Hormuz Reopening

An unnamed senior Iranian government official said Tehran offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the United States takes initial steps to ease military pressure. The official said the proposal had reached Washington through mediators and sought renewed negotiations toward a permanent end to hostilities. Tehran plans consultations with intermediary states during the UN General Assembly in New York, the official said. The official ruled out a meeting between President Masoud Pezeshkian and President Donald Trump, while saying Washington would need to show seriousness and commitment and take measures including ending the blockade of Iranian ports.
