RTVE President to Ask Board to Keep Spain Out of Eurovision 2027 Over Israel

RTVE president José Pablo López told Spain's Senate that he will ask the public broadcaster's board to keep Spain out of the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest because Israeli broadcaster KAN remains eligible. The board has not decided. The contest is scheduled for May 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria, and approval would make this Spain's second consecutive absence. López said RTVE had pushed the European Broadcasting Union for tighter governance, penalties for political instrumentalization and neutral sponsorship, but argued that an ethical issue remained.
