Fast-Track Consent Application Lodged for New Zealand’s Northland Dry Dock

A substantive fast-track consent application has been lodged with New Zealand's Environmental Protection Authority for a shipyard and dry dock beside Northport at Marsden Point in Whangarei Harbour. The proposed facility is intended to service large naval and commercial vessels, including inter-island ferries. Government-cited modelling estimates an additional NZ$1.05 billion in economic activity over 38 years, an average 1,700 jobs a year during three years of construction and 450 operational jobs.
