Nigeria Security Advisory Warns Terror Groups May Attempt Isolated Attacks

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Nigerian national security adviser Nuhu Ribadu speaking at a conference table in a patterned cap and pale-blue traditional clothing, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes.

Nigeria's Office of the National Security Adviser urged continued vigilance over potential security concerns in unspecified locations. It said ongoing offensives, intelligence work and threat monitoring with domestic and international partners had weakened ISWAP and other groups, which may attempt isolated attacks to create fear. The advisory covered the North-East, North-West and North-Central and cited the reported killing of commander Abubakar Mainok, also known as Abu Bilal al-Minuki. It asked residents to report suspicious people, objects, vehicles or movements, avoid unverified information and cooperate with security agencies.
