Bolivia Cabinet Approves 90-Day State-of-Exception Extension Decree

Bolivia's cabinet approved a decree seeking to extend the state of exception for another 90 days. Defense Minister Ernesto Justiniano announced the decision after a cabinet meeting with President Rodrigo Paz in La Paz. The current measure began on June 20 and is due to expire on September 18, while the government says the risk of renewed mobilizations persists. Justiniano said ministers would present the decree to the Legislative Assembly, whose authorization is required, and that it would be published within hours.
