Capt. David Hazutt, 21, of Ashkelon, a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade's 12th Battalion, was killed at roughly 2 a.m. Sunday when a Hezbollah operative concealed in a stairwell opened fire on his troops as they searched a suspicious structure in Deir Siryan, southern Lebanon. A second soldier was lightly wounded. Hazutt is the first IDF fatality since the US-brokered Israel-Lebanon trilateral framework was signed Friday, June 26.
