Israeli Security Officials Reportedly See No Immediate Need for New Iran Strike

Israeli security officials reportedly see no immediate operational need to initiate another strike on Iran, while maintaining readiness to respond if Israel is attacked. The assessment, disclosed on October 22, also extends to initiating attacks on the Lebanon, Syria and Gaza fronts. Unnamed officials describe an effort to lower regional tensions without reducing the military's ability to react to threats. One security source argues that military force can weaken Iran's regime but cannot bring about its collapse on its own, and that the nuclear dispute ultimately requires a diplomatic solution, alongside or instead of military action.
