1. Information we use
If you create an account or subscribe, we use your email and sign-in details. We store the profile details, content and requests you choose to submit, and saved items, settings and progress in features you use. Google sign-in supplies your Google account ID, email and display name.
Our own analytics and error-reporting systems record site activity, browser or app details, IP address, approximate location and technical errors. Signed-in activity can be linked to your account ID, email and earlier visits on that device.
App notifications use a delivery token; app updates use installation and version information. Public content is visible according to your privacy settings. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.
2. Purposes and legal bases
We use this information to operate and improve the Service, provide requested features and communications, and prevent abuse. Hosting, email and push services process the data needed to provide those features. OpenAI checks submitted display names, comments and free-text profile fields, and Google checks uploaded profile photos for inappropriate content. Contact us to request review of rejected content.
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating, improving and protecting the Service, compliance with law, and consent where required.
- Accounts and sign-in: We use the information necessary to provide your account and sign-in features to perform our agreement with you.
- Security and abuse prevention: We rely on our legitimate interests in protecting the Service and its users, where the processing is necessary and your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms do not override those interests.
- Optional newsletters: We rely on your consent when you subscribe. You can withdraw it through the unsubscribe link.
Required account or contact information is necessary to provide the feature you request; optional profile information is voluntary. You may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
3. Cookies and choices
We use cookies and similar device storage for sign-in, security, preferences, diagnostics and analytics.
The sign-in cookie lasts up to 365 days, the analytics cookie up to 400 days after use, and your analytics choice 180 days. Other preferences and browser storage remain until cleared or reset by the feature. These are first-party identifiers used for the Service.
You can manage device storage in your browser or app settings. Blocking necessary storage may prevent features from working. You can unsubscribe from newsletters using the link in a message and manage app notifications in the app or device settings.
4. Retention and security
We retain account information and submitted content while needed for the relevant features, until deletion where available. Newsletter records remain while subscribed; limited records may remain to honor an unsubscribe. Diagnostic events expire after 12 months and app content-update records after 30 days.
We determine how long to retain personal information based on the purposes for which it was collected, the period needed to provide requested features and compare usage trends, whether identifiable information remains necessary, and applicable security, legal and dispute-resolution requirements. We periodically review retained information and delete or anonymize it when it is no longer needed.
You can request deletion of your personal information by emailing admin@thestateofisrael.com. We may verify your identity before processing your request.
Some records may remain as necessary for security, legal obligations, disputes or enforcement, and backups remain until their ordinary rotation. We use safeguards designed to protect personal information; no system guarantees absolute security.
5. Your rights
You can update your profile or delete your account. You may contact us to request access, correction, deletion or a portable copy of your information, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or appeal a decision on a privacy request. We handle requests and appeals under applicable law and may verify your identity or an authorized agent’s authority. Requests are free unless the law permits a fee or refusal. We do not discriminate for exercising privacy rights.
You may complain to the relevant privacy regulator. Where applicable, recognized browser opt-out signals, including Global Privacy Control, apply to the activities they cover; we do not sell or share information for advertising as described above.
6. International processing and children
Information is processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Contact us with questions about international processing.
The Service is not directed to children under 13. Account and interactive features are for adults. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied information that we should remove under applicable law.
7. Changes
We may update this notice and will provide any notice or obtain any consent required by law. The effective date identifies the current notice.
