Iranian Officials Claim Plans to Target Gulf Undersea Cables if War Resumes

Two unnamed senior Iranian officials claimed that Tehran has detailed plans to attack Gulf states’ undersea communications cables if negotiations with the United States collapse and U.S. and Israeli forces resume fighting against Iran. The officials did not specify how the attacks would be carried out or identify exact targets. One said renewed attacks on Iran would end its remaining restrictions on potential targets, which could include communications cables and military bases, including covert facilities. The officials also warned Washington against further escalation.
