Israeli Jets Reportedly Flew Toward Iranian Border in Deterrence Exercise

American sources said dozens of Israeli aircraft flew across Syria and Iraq toward Iran’s border overnight Monday–Tuesday, in a disclosure published Wednesday. Fighters and aerial-refueling aircraft participated, then returned to Israel without a reported attack on Iran. Israel notified Washington beforehand, and Israeli and American officials described the operation as a demonstration of military strength intended to deter Iran. They acknowledged the risk of Iranian miscalculation and renewed fighting. The disclosure also described U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth meeting Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel Katz at Ovda Air Base.
