U.S. Reportedly Asked SpaceX to Cut Hezbollah and Houthi Starlink Access

Former U.S. officials said successive administrations asked Elon Musk and SpaceX to change Starlink access in conflict zones, according to a newly disclosed account. They said Biden administration officials sought to identify and disconnect terminals used by Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen over concerns about the Iranian-backed groups’ operational communications. Two former officials said at least some of those terminals were disconnected. The account also describes U.S. requests to expand access for opponents of Iran’s regime to bypass internet restrictions and to support Ukraine’s military.
