Singapore Records First Islandwide Unhealthy Air Since 2019

At 6 a.m. on September 15, all five Singapore regions recorded 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index readings in the unhealthy range for the first time since September 2019. Readings were 104 in the north, 111 in the south, 128 in both the east and west, and 154 in central Singapore. The National Environment Agency said east-southeast winds carried smoke from Kalimantan toward Singapore, with additional haze from southern Sumatra. By 4 p.m., the north and south had improved to moderate, while the other three regions remained unhealthy.
