Yair Golan’s Democrats Begin Drafting Coalition Demands

A Democrats working team has begun preparing a structured demands document for coalition negotiations if Israel’s change bloc forms the next government. The draft focuses on democracy, the rule of law and operational commitments concerning the judiciary rather than general coalition guidelines. Party officials are also considering the defense, justice, education, national security and communications portfolios. The preparations reflect concern that ideologically different partners, including Naftali Bennett and Avigdor Liberman, could dominate a future coalition and limit the Democrats’ influence. An unnamed party source said the Democrats would not accept a token portfolio and want to influence and lead.
