Haredi Sources Say Parties May Sit Out Coalition Until Draft Law Passes

Unnamed Haredi political sources said Shas and United Torah Judaism are considering recommending neither Benjamin Netanyahu nor Gadi Eisenkot for prime minister and remaining outside the next government during its initial period. The reported idea would let a government pass a Haredi conscription law without the parties as signatories, allowing them to oppose it publicly and reconsider joining after enactment. The sources said no party leadership or rabbinic authority has formally approved the proposal and denied negotiations or coordination with Eisenkot. They also assessed that Shas was unlikely to enter a government alone if United Torah Judaism stayed outside.
