Liberman Says Eisenkot Is Prioritizing His Party Over Opposition Bloc

Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Liberman said opposition strategy must strengthen the entire bloc and accused Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot of focusing on his own party even when that weakens the wider camp. He said his concern was that Eisenkot’s good intentions could produce “Benny Gantz 2,” and criticized Eisenkot and Yoram Cohen for not categorically ruling out partnerships with Netanyahu, Smotrich and the Haredi parties. Liberman said he plans to meet Eisenkot on Tuesday and hopes to convene all opposition leaders next week. He also argued that an advance Bennett-Liberman commitment to support Eisenkot would cost the bloc three seats, according to internal models.
