Bnei Brak Parade Honors 160 Men Released From Military Prison

On Sunday evening, the Haredi protest party Tzeva Shachor organized a procession in Bnei Brak to honor 160 men released from military prison after detention over their draft status. The march featured music and singing. The party sought to highlight frustration that established Haredi parties had not secured a draft exemption for yeshiva students during the outgoing Knesset. Groups in the crowd attacked journalists from three Israeli television networks, prompting some crews to leave. Opposition leaders Gadi Eisenkot, Naftali Bennett, Avigdor Lieberman and Yair Golan condemned the event and linked it to the October 27 Knesset election.
