Military officials said proactive enforcement against draft evaders and deserters would resume in October, coordinated between Military Police and police stations. The commitment emerged from a follow-up review led by the Attorney General’s office, after recent enforcement focused on border crossings and holiday preparations. From September 1 to 22, 212 draft evaders and deserters were arrested, including approximately 163 assessed as Haredi; all were brought to trial, mostly in disciplinary proceedings. Of 188 arrests at Ben Gurion Airport, 64 were made upon return after the individuals had left Israel undetected.
