Porush Warns Haredi Consumer Boycott Over Draft-Linked Economic Sanctions

MK Meir Porush warned major companies at Jerusalem’s Tevuna for Economy conference that the Haredi public could organize a consumer boycott if draft-linked economic penalties continue. He cited more than NIS 51 billion in annual Haredi consumption and said the community could use that purchasing power if leading Torah sages instructed it. Porush listed halted funding for Torah learners, educational institutions and kindergarten teachers among measures he said were harming Haredi life. The reported Tevuna Index found 41% of Haredi households had reduced basic food purchases or relied on vouchers, rising to 51% among younger households, including kollel students.
