Protest Group Hangs Draft-Law Banners Ahead of High Court Hearing

Brothers and Sisters in Arms said it hung banners across Israel before dawn, identifying coalition lawmakers who supported the law freezing arrests of Haredi yeshiva students who did not report under conscription orders. The banners read, “Voted against IDF soldiers,” according to the group and published photographs. The action came before a nine-justice High Court hearing on petitions seeking to invalidate the law, including the group's petition. The court has temporarily suspended the law, which restricts arrests, investigations and other enforcement measures against qualifying yeshiva students, while the petitions are considered.
