Eliakim Stark Compares Haredi Draft Restrictions to Holocaust Era

Belz candidate Rabbi Eliakim Stark compared the situation of Haredi men facing draft-related travel restrictions to the Holocaust period at an election gathering in Beit Shemesh on Thursday evening. Stark, the new Belz representative on Agudat Yisrael’s list within United Torah Judaism, spoke about men who could not travel abroad because of military draft orders. He said the restrictions prevented them from flying overseas for marriage introductions and required prospective brides’ families to come to Israel instead. His remarks presented the comparison as his assessment of the Haredi community’s situation.
